Sights in Walcheren

Relaxing on the beach in Vlissingen, going for a bike ride to Veere or a day in Middelburg, it’s all possible during your holiday at Zomerhuisjes by the Sea. But there are more places nearby that are worth the visit!

Pay a visit to Fort Rammekens in Ritthem, the oldest sea fort in Western Europe. This impressive national monument is open to the public and gives you an insight into the history of Walcheren. For an excellent view over the Westerschelde you should climb the fort.

Another striking, unique monument is Kasteel Westhove. Located in Oostkapelle, this centuries-old castle used to include an orangery. Today nature museum Terra Maris is situated within the old orangery. Not only can you make beautiful walks around the castle, in the museum you can also learn more about the landscapes of Zeeland and its history.

With the kids

Going on vacation with the whole family to Zoutelande? Walcheren offers sights for young and old! With the children, it is definitely a must to visit the Mini Mundi play park in Middelburg. Mini Mundi features an indoor playground, an amusement park, a playground for the little ones and Miniature Walcheren is the play paradise of Zeeland. Hof Poppendamme is smaller but no less fun. At this play farm, children can enjoy hours of fun with other kids. The little ones can pet the animals, jump on the bouncy castle and make sand castles. For even more fun and delicious pancakes, visit Molen de Jonge Johannes in Serooskerke. Are the children crazy about horse riding? De Dankbare in Oostkapelle offers beach rides, outside rides and various lessons.
