Cycling routes in Walcheren

Discovering the surroundings of Walcheren by bike? Good idea! There are several beautiful routes that lead you through the beautiful countryside. You can also just drive around and let nature surprise you. For your convenience, we have listed a number of routes. One of the popular bicycle routes is the bunker route. During this route you will cycle along the 80 bunkers from the Second World War.

Picnic spots

Another beautiful route of 26 to 55 km takes you past several picnic spots in Walcheren. At these spots you can take a moment rest in the middle of nature and enjoy a tasty picnic.

Veerse Meer

A bicycle tour around the heart of Zeeland, Veerse Meer. Not only is it the perfect place for boating, sailing or swimming, but the nature round it invites you to visit this place by bicycle. Almost entirely parallel to the water is a bicycle route of almost 60 kilometers long. You will cycle along various towns such as Veere, Vrouwenpolder, Kamperland and Kortgene. Perfect places to take a break!

Walking in Zoutelande and its surroundings

Because of its beautiful nature, Zeeland is the perfect place for long or short walks. On the beach, in the woods or over the dunes. Fun fact, the highest point on Walcheren lies atop the dunes of Zoutelande. Moreover, Zeeland has the most hours of sunshine in the Netherlands!

You can walk across the long dunes of Zoutelande with a sublime view of the beach, sea and land. You can walk all the way to the dike of Westkapelle. When you reach the dike of Westkapelle, you will come across an important monument of the village. As a war memorial, the Shermantank symbolizes the liberation of Westkapelle and the Battle of the Scheldt during World War II.

Nature reserve Oranjezon

Oranjezon, a beautiful nature reserve where you can encounter deer, horses and other animals. What used to be a water catchment area is now for many people one of their favorite places to go for a walk. With the fresh air you can relax perfectly out here. In the area you will find a number of marked hiking trails from 3 to 7 kilometers, but also here you can walk across the dunes to the beach.

Veere

In historic Veere you will not only find centuries-old buildings, narrow streets and a city harbor, the city also consists for a large part of ramparts. This brings the past of Veere back to life. Along the route you will encounter a number of wooden benches, where you can both rest and learn more about the city. Interesting! It is a short, but educational and beautiful walking route.
